The Box Shop will be celebrating two art projects on the same day with City and neighborhood leaders: The Box Shop Mural Project and SFMTA’s community-created ‘quick build murals’ added to safety cement barriers (K-rails) near the Box Shop on Hunter’s Point Boulevard.
You are CORDIALLY INVITED to an opening and celebration of various local artistic contributions. Each installation is made by local artists who are commissioned for their amazing work.
Saturday, April 3rd 2021 10 Hunters Point Blvd., San Francisco, CA
- 10 AM – 4 PM art viewing
- 11 AM – Press event with local leaders, city officials, local muralists, and artists
The Box Shop will set up a one-way safe viewing plan so those attending can safely view all works of art in and outside of the Box Shop.
In addition to joining to celebrate The Mural Project, you will have the opportunity to view two impressive large-scale artworks in the making in the warehouse/maker-shop. Dana Albany’s collaboration with Alabama-based artists ‘I Am More Than’ metal sculpture and Charlie Gadeken’s ‘T2’ sculpture planned for installation in the City of Los Altos.

In 2020, The Box Shop initiated the Mural Project and engaged and commissioned hundreds of local artists to create large-scale murals and installations to cover Box Shop surfaces. To date, 80+ artworks have been installed, with more on the way. The goal is to cover all surfaces with local art, beautify the neighborhood, and support artists.
